About Me

Email:

My name is Alison Buskirk (formerly Alison Work), and I am a UX Designer with a background in film & animation, graphic design, and instructional design.

I live in Okemos, MI with my husband, Wes, and my dog, Ella.

My interest in media and design started when I was young, spending hours at home creating stop motion animations. I went on to study film & video with an emphasis in animation at Grand Valley State University, where I further developed skills in 2d, 3d, and motion graphics. (View animation reel here.)

While at Grand Valley, I balanced schoolwork with athletics, competing in both the cross country and track programs. This experience instilled discipline, taught me the value of teamwork, and played a big role in shaping who I am today.

After graduation, I began my career at Michigan State University Extension as a Digital Media Designer, where I currently work. In this role, I transform complex or technical concepts into engaging, accessible formats, from e-learning courses and educational videos to podcasts, graphics, and websites.

My passion for creating usable, impactful products lead me to pursue my master’s in UX Design from Michigan State University. By empathizing with users and making data-informed design decisions, I’ve significantly improved the quality and usability of the resources we create.
